 My Partner Malina and I made a product called “Life Catcher” that I hope next time when someone else went to swim they can save themselves.

We choose Orange as the background because Orange is the contrast color with the ocean color--- Blue. Orange is the best sign when people swim in the ocean. If any problem happened, people can easily see the orange color than save the person who got troubles.

Product Logo Design

 This is the logo which my partner Malina and I decided. Vita Arco is the Latin of Life Protection.
The blue shape is a blue wave. The logo means protect people from the large waves.

Analytical Drawing

This is the analytical drawing I drew. I designed two parts for my product--- the head part and the floaty part. The head part is a transparent plastic triangle. People can use it to breath and see clearly in the ocean. It can also separate the wave suddenly. The floaty part is for help people float on the ocean. The pockets on the floaty is for putting some important things and there is a small GPS in it for keep in touch with other. And I also design a pocket to put the SOS sign that people can use the SOS sign to get attention.  The ropes to connects two part also have a very important function. There is a hook on the rope. People can catch something with it when they meet flood or tsunami in the city.

I really like fashion design and these are some garment concept drawings I drew for my garment.

 

Project Prototype

The "Swim Ring" is very helpful when people get some troubles in the ocean. The swim ring part can let people float on the ocean. the rope is very useful because there is a hook there. If there is the flood and tsunami, people can catch something with the hook. There are two pocket there, there is the SOS sign paper in there. The sign is very long so people can see it clearly. And the paper is very easy to tear so people will not twine by it.

 The head part is for people breath easily in the ocean. I choose the triangle shape for the head part because it can separate the waves quickly. There is a small window there to let people breath when the wave is not that big



My partner Malina and I made the prototype of our product--- "Life Catcher".  We decided this is for the people who met tsunami or in the flood and get trouble. There are a lot of functions. I made the prototype of it with plastic and some newsprint paper and drawing paper.

Artist Statements

             My main idea is DISAPPEAR. I want to commemorate my friend who was died in the ocean last month. My friend disappeared in 17 years old, she made me think about how valuable life is and how small when people met the natural power. I realize that I should cherish my life and do whatever I want.

               My work is always combining black color and cold color because I like the feeling of darkness. I want to show my style and have more different idea so I always research for some other people’s work or the main words of my project and combine with my idea to draw. I love to use watercolor and mix many cold color with a few warm color or many warm color with a few cold color. I love to play with color. I think it is fun.

              I really like Fashion Design that I hope I can mix some of my favorite style then create my own special clothes.

Artist Bios

             

               Sonia Carolina Huang was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1995.   She lives in Shanghai and studies at Shanghai High School International Division.  Sonia just does what she likes. When she was very young, her mom could not control what she was wearing. She always wears what she likes and never wears the clothes she doesn’t like even once.  She wants to apply Parsons and CSM in the future.  She loves Fashion Design and Design Management.

Painting

 This is my painting. I spend a long time on the details. I used tracing paper trace on the painting paper and then I use color to paint on it.

This is the photo I took and I used Photoshop to change the color. When I saw this ocean, I just remember my friend. The ocean looked peaceful but the waves were very large. I changed the color to red because red can show the feeling of dangerous. The photo looked peace but actually there were many thing we cannot see in it.

Fashion Garment

For my garment, I designed a dress to protect my friend at her funeral. I made a dress with gradual change of flower and black hard pannier for her. The hard pannier can protect her in her future and the gradual changed flowers means the fade of a flower. I putted the flower on the pannier are the representatives of her young death.

Book Cover: Disappear

       Our project is made a book cover and mine is about my “disappear” friend.

 I named the book cover “Disappear” to commemorate my friend. It symbolizes her death. The book cover combined by two very similar photos I took and then I transform them to 50% transparent form and then cut the person on one of the photo. Made the effect of the person’s disappearance. 

I tried a long time to choose a great font and I decided to use “Cracked” font on the book cover because this font let me feel lose something in it. And the background I used for the title is dark grey. I think grey is a sad color; this color can make me think about my friend’s disappearance. 

 

This is a practice on the class. I made this.

Design/ Graphic Design Unit

I love design class because I learn many things in this class, such as illustrator and design for clothes. These are all the things I really want to learn in Shanghai. I was love to explain everything to you but I put all the things in my iphone and I cannot open it in the computer lab. I will explain everything tonight.

EVENT.

My event is a sad story. My friend died last month when she went to swim in the ocean. A large wave came and she suddenly disappeared. I am in the computer room so I don't have any photo of my drawing and I am going to put them here tonight. This event influence me because I was thinking about what should I do in my future. I really love Fashion design but it is hard to find a job to make money if I cannot do it very well. And I am also interesting in design management. It will make more money than Fashion design and I can find more job. After my friend died in 16 years old. I am sure I am going to study Fashion Design because I feel I should enjoy my life. So my friend influences me to choose fashion design in my future.

My painting is a picture I took when I was in Miami. The peaceful Ocean and beautiful blue sky. I used photo shop to change its color and make it scare. I choose the peaceful ocean because I want to show people is so small.

        Hi. I am Sonia Carolina Huang from Argentina. I live in Argentina for seven years and then I move to Shanghai. I studied in Shanghai. I love to draw, paint and everything about design. I don't like to study physics, chemistry and math in school but I love to draw in every time.
